Family, Friend and Neighbor Caregivers
WHO IT’S FOR:
- Family, friends and neighbors who care for young children (birth to age 5)
- Informal/unregulated home child care providers
- Grandparents
- Foster and adoptive parents
- Kith and kin child care providers
WHY IT MATTERS:
Many young children spend parts of the day with someone other than their parents and not in a formal child care program — with a grandparent, aunt or uncle, or with a trusted neighbor or friend. Caring for the children of family, friends or neighbors is very important work. Thank you!
WHAT IT IS:
Family, friend and neighbor (FFN) programs support caregivers in helping the young children in your care learn and grow. Programs are free and usually include classes or group meetings with other caregivers that are led by trained professionals. You’ll learn how you can better support the health, development and learning of the young children in your care through health and safety practices, educational activities and understanding more about child development.
